How to Build an MVP with AI in One Day

Step-by-step guide to building your minimum viable product using AI app builders. From idea to deployed app.

Treat a single day as a planning target for a small MVP, not a guaranteed build time. The schedule below is a suggested work plan; the actual result depends on scope, revisions, and deployment requirements.

Morning: Planning (2 hours)

Start by clearly defining your MVP scope. Write down:

  • The core problem you’re solving
  • Your target user
  • The 3-5 essential features (resist the urge to add more)
  • How users will access your app (web, mobile, both)

Use the AI app builder shortlist for a web product. For mobile, compare FlutterFlow and Rork: their current workflows differ, and Rork’s newer projects use Swift, Kotlin, and React rather than the older Expo approach.

Late Morning: Building the Core (3 hours)

Open your chosen AI app builder and describe your application. Start with the most critical feature. For example: “Create a task management app where users can add tasks, mark them complete, and filter by status.”

Iterate on the AI’s output. Ask for specific changes: “Make the task cards larger” or “Add a due date field to each task.”

Early Afternoon: Adding Features (2 hours)

Once your core feature works, add supporting functionality one piece at a time. Keep requests focused: “Add user authentication so each user only sees their own tasks.”

Late Afternoon: Polish & Testing (2 hours)

Refine the user interface. Ask for better styling, error handling, and loading states. Test every feature thoroughly. Have someone unfamiliar with the app try it.

Evening: Deployment (1 hour)

Builders such as Base44 and v0 provide managed publishing workflows. Check your chosen plan’s publishing and domain requirements, then verify the live app separately from its preview. Mobile store review is a separate step that does not fit a guaranteed one-day launch.

Tips for Success

  • Focus relentlessly on core value
  • Don’t perfectionist - ship and iterate
  • Get user feedback early
  • Document your prompts for future reference
