How the score is weighted
Every tool gets a 0–10 score in seven categories. The overall score is the weighted average below.
| Category | Weight | What we look at |
|---|---|---|
| Ease for Beginners | 25% | How approachable is the tool for non-developers? We evaluate onboarding, documentation, UI clarity, and the learning curve. |
| Speed to MVP | 20% | Time from idea to working prototype. How quickly can you go from a description to a functional application? |
| Full-Stack Capability | 15% | Backend, database, and authentication support. Can the tool build complete applications or just frontends? |
| Customization & Control | 15% | Flexibility and control over the generated code. Can you export, modify, and extend the application? |
| Deployment & Hosting | 10% | How easy is it to deploy and host your application? Built-in hosting, custom domains, and export options. |
| Pricing Value | 10% | Cost relative to features provided. We consider free tiers, paid plans, and overall value for money. |
| Community & Support | 5% | Documentation quality, community size, support responsiveness, and available learning resources. |
Transparency
Our Methodology
We believe in transparent, rigorous, and fair reviews. Here’s exactly how we test, score, and recommend AI app builders.
Testing Approach
We don’t just read marketing pages—we build real projects. Every tool we review goes through a comprehensive hands-on testing process designed to reveal what actually matters for our audience: beginners, solo builders, and non-developers.
-
Real Project Testing
We build actual projects with each tool—not toy examples. We create landing pages, dashboards, CRUD apps, and integrations to test real-world capabilities.
-
Beginner Perspective
We approach each tool as a beginner would. Our testers include non-developers to ensure our reviews reflect the experience of our target audience.
-
Feature Deep-Dive
We systematically test core features: AI generation quality, code export, database integration, authentication, deployment, and customization options.
-
Comparative Analysis
We build the same project across multiple tools to provide fair, apples-to-apples comparisons. This reveals strengths and weaknesses clearly.
-
Long-Term Monitoring
We revisit tools regularly to track updates, improvements, and changes. The AI builder space evolves rapidly, and so do our reviews.
Scoring Categories
Our weighted scoring system reflects what matters most to our target audience. Ease of use and speed are weighted higher because our readers are primarily beginners looking to build quickly.
Editorial Independence
Affiliate Transparency
Yes, we use affiliate links. When you sign up through our links, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. However, affiliate relationships never influence our scores or recommendations.
No Pay-for-Placement
We do not accept payment for higher rankings or positive reviews. Our recommendations are based solely on our testing and analysis.
Critical When Necessary
We highlight limitations and weaknesses honestly. If a tool has problems, we say so—even if it’s an affiliate partner.
Reader-First Approach
Our goal is to help you find the right tool—not to push you toward the highest commission. We succeed when you find what works for you.
Update Cadence
The AI builder space moves fast. Tools add major features, change pricing, and evolve rapidly. We commit to keeping our content current:
- Quarterly reviews of all major tools
- Immediate updates when significant changes occur
- “Last reviewed” dates on every review page
- Community feedback integration—tell us when things change
